Send submissions to uwyowritingcontest@gmail.com.

Attach the submission as PDF or Word document. Other file types will not be considered. Include the genre (fiction, nonfiction, poetry) in the header. Please note the title and word count in the body of the email.

Submissions open on February 26 and close on March 29.
Fiction and nonfiction pieces should be no longer than 3,000 words. There is no minimum word count for prose, though we prefer pieces around 1,000 words. Poetry is more flexible, but ideally keep each piece under 1,000 words.

No excerpts, work must be self-contained. Whatever work you submit must be unpublished.

All submissions must include your name, the title, and page numbers. Unless your work dictates otherwise, please keep the format to Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced.

You may not submit more than once to each genre. However, you may submit to more than one genre (e.g. one fiction piece and one nonfiction piece). If you do so, please send the submissions separately.

In terms of submitting within genre, you may submit 1 fiction piece, 1 nonfiction piece, and up to 3 poems. If you submit multiple poems, please include them all in the same email.
